Job description

Construction Lawyer for work mainly based in Qatar, however actual location is flexible and may be in Europe or Middle East.
We are seeking a mid-level projects/infrastructure disputes lawyer to join our team. The role is focussed on advising clients (usually contractors or subcontractors) in relation to large scale infrastructure and construction projects – both during projects and in relation to dispute proceedings – including adjudication, litigation and international arbitration. The work is international so international travel will be involved.

ERI specialises in the construction and engineering sectors and has provided legal advice for many complex and high value projects.

ERI advises clients from inception to completion of projects, and including post completion issues including dispute resolution.

Clients regularly rely on ERI for procurement options and contracting strategies, addressing interface issues, reviewing tenders and supporting the evaluation process. ERI also identifies key project risks and helps establishes the measures necessary to avoid or lessen them. This includes undertaking contract negotiations and drafting contracts and consultancy agreements and JVs.

ERI has a proven track record in providing project support, working within client teams and the full range of consultants. In the event of legal issues arising, our team delivers advice, strategic claims advice, claims management and support.

We have experience of advising and representing clients in construction disputes in many countries and experience of many of the major arbitration institutions and rules. We have represented clients in arbitrations in key established arbitration venues including London, Paris, Stockholm, Zurich and Dubai.

Our lawyers are based in the UK, Greece and the Middle East.  We have a flexible approach to where they choose to live, so long as they demonstrate a flexible approach to international travel, which may, at times, involve substantial periods working with clients at their projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

Legal qualifications (not necessarily UK) and specialist experience within Construction law is required. 
The ideal canddiate will be competent in both non-contentious and contentious construction law, but canddiates with a speciaility or preference for one or the other will still be considered.
Candidates must be prepared to travel and sometimes spend substantial periods away from their home base.  They msut be prepared to work under pressure when necessary.

Requirements
  • Legal Qualification in a recognised jurisdiction.
  • Previous experience of Construction law is required.
  • High level fluency in English.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of sector knowledge and commercial awareness
  • Excellent written communication and drafting skills
  • Self-confident, proactive, pragmatic approach to tasks and projects
  • Highly enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • The ability to interact and build relationships with people at all levels
  • Ability to work well in both a team and individually
  • Desire to be proactively involved in business development and marketing
  • Commitment to excellent client service
